To empower people to lead nonviolent lives through affirmation, respect for all, community building, cooperation, and trust. Founded in and developed from the real life experiences of prisoners and others, and building on a spiritual base, AVP encourages every person’s innate power to positively transform themselves and the world. AVP/USA is an association of community-based groups and prison-based groups offering experiential workshops in personal growth and creative conflict management. The national organization provides support for the work of these local groups.

Better Babies, Inc.

Better Babies, Inc. is a California Perinatal Services Program that provides the support Services of Health Educations, Nutritional Counseling, Prenatal Vitamins, Social Work and Counseling for low-income pregnant women and postpartum women. Colusa County Office of Education

The Colusa County Office of Education is a public agency operating a variety of programs for children, youth, and families, and supporting schools with academic, business, consulting and vocational services. The County Office of Education educates children with special needs, referrals and wards of the Juvenile Court. Colusa Regional Medical Center

Colusa Regional Medical Center has a long and honored history of serving the healthcare needs of the people of Colusa County, California, and surrounding areas since January of 1877 as a small, rural medical facility. Community Action Agency of Butte County

Agency programs operate through several departments: Housing & Community Development; Food & Nutrition; and the Esplanade House. Each department consists of various projects and programs that enable low-income families and elderly to improve their lives. Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP)

Chico Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) started out as a partnership between the CSU Chico and the City of Chico, founded in 1973 by Jim Jessee, Keith Hopkins, Bill Murphy and Kevin Campbell. In 1991 the articles were amended to change the name to Community Housing Improvement Program, Incorporated. CHIP’s original purpose was the implementation of a plan to improve a small neighborhood south of campus through a housing rehab program. During CHIP’s first seven years, the only activity it carried out was housing rehab. In 1980, CHIP diversified operations by becoming a USDA Self-Help Housing grantee, soon expanding to a six-county service area. CHIP currently serves seven counties in California’s north central valley.

Consolidated Area Housing Authority of Sutter County

Consolidated Area Housing Authority of Sutter County is a public non-profit corporation. The primary function of the Housing Authority is to assist low and moderate-income families, including elderly and handicapped persons, by operating programs that provide decent, safe and sanitary housing at affordable costs. Immigration and Home Help for Hispanic Mothers

The mission of Home Help for Hispanic Mothers (HHHM) is to empower and support Latina women and children of Tehama County as they strive for full dignity and self-determination with special emphasis on the poor and disenfranchised. The Latino families served live in a rural agricultural area of Tehama County, which covers 2,951 square miles in the northern Sacramento Valley. Most are seasonal agricultural workers with yearly incomes well below the poverty level. Home Help for Hispanic Mothers’ target population is undocumented immigrant Latinas with less than an eighth-grade education. HHHM serves approximately 300 Latinas through their programs and support services.

Migrant Clinicians Network

The Migrant Clinicians Network (MCN) is a national, not-for-profit organization founded in 1984 by clinicians working in migrant health. With over 5,000 constituents, the organization is a force for justice in health care for the mobile poor.
MCN is governed by a board of directors consisting of medical and dental directors, clinicians, and health professions educators with expertise in direct care and health center administration in settings serving special populations. The work of MCN is accomplished by a professional staff of over 40 employees and contractors. Of the employees, 16 are headquartered in Austin, TX, with an additional 6 individuals contracted for work in the field for specific programs. Of the 22 employee staff members seven are clinicians with experience in caring for migrant patients. Ninety percent of the MCN staff is bilingual (English/Spanish).

James Gallagher has represented California’s Third Assembly District since 2014. Before joining the Assembly, he served on the Sutter County Board of Supervisors for six years. James earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at UC Berkeley before completing an Assembly Fellowship in Sacramento and a law degree at UC Davis, where he graduated at the top of his class. He advocates for small businesses and farmers in his law practice and is a partner in his family’s farming operation. James is married to his high school sweetheart, Janna; the two live in Sutter County where they are raising their five young children..

Members of the Board of Supervisors serve as the legislative and executive body for Sutter County and provide policy direction for all branches of County Government. There are five Board members and each member is elected on a non-partisan basis for a four-year term to represent a particular area, or district, of the County. Supervisors from Districts One and Five are elected in State general election years (2006, 2010, etc.) and Districts Two, Three, and Four during Presidential election years (2004, 2008, etc.) Supervisorial Districts vary greatly in geographic size however they all have approximately the same population. District boundaries are redrawn after each federal census to equalize the district population as closely as possible.
Supervisors also assist citizens in solving problems and addressing local concerns.

Yuba City is a Northern California city, founded in 1849. It is the county seat of Sutter County, California, United States. As of 2006, Yuba City had an estimated total population of 60,360. As of March 2010, Yuba City has an unemployment rate of 20.8%, the third highest among U.S. cities. Yuba City is the principal city of the Yuba City Metropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses all of Sutter County and Yuba County. The metro area’s population is 164,138 It is the 21st largest metropolitan area in California ranked behind Redding and Chico. La Escuelita

Our goal is to promote the development of each child’s appreciation of themselves as individuals; competent in all of the learning domains (cognitive, social emotional, creative, and physical) and to develop children’s facility in both the English and Spanish languages. La Escuelita assists children to recognize the many ways children are the same and different from each other. We aim to incorporate the child’s interests, cultural context, and events that make up their lives in our daily activities in order to foster children’s learning and critical thinking.
